How are your fabric shower curtains different from others?

  1. At Pond Lily, our shower curtains are not mass produced. Sometimes five or less are sewn per style.

  2. We do not use cheap fabric. We use decorator and other high-quality fabrics. There are five to seven yards of fabric in a standard size shower curtain.

  3. Many of our curtains are a unique piece of workmanship, design, and embellishment rather than one solid panel of fabric.

  4. We employ the finest sewing techniques even if it takes longer to construct.

  5. Our curtains are hand sewn in the U.S.

Construction details

  1. Each shower curtain is reinforced on top with a stiff, washable material known as buckram. This prevents sagging between buttonholes. This is a big difference between our shower curtains and others.

  2. Our shower curtains have doubled 1 1/2" side hems and a doubled 3" bottom hem which add weight and allow the shower curtain to hang well. Other inexpensive curtains have narrow side and bottom hems.

  3. Each shower curtain has 1 1/4" buttonholes which are large enough to allow for a variety of shower curtain rings. All seams are neatly finished with either serging or a flat-feld seam.

  4. We always pre shrink the fabric on our machine washable curtains to reduce shrinkage when you launder your shower curtain. Many other store bought fabric curtains shrink noticeably after washing because the fabric wasn't preshrunk prior to construction.

  5. Most of our shower curtains are constructed with 54" wide home decorator fabric which requires one well-matched seam. This is typical of custom sewn curtains. The seam is hidden within a fold and is never placed in the center of the curtain.
